Ultra Challenge Series – Thames Path Challenge
What is the Thames Path Challenge?
England’s greatest river provides a fantastic backdrop for an unforgettable challenge of walking, jogging or running 100km, 50km or 25km. Starting at Putney Bridge, the full 100km route heads upstream all the way to Henley along the famous Thames Towpath. It travels through Richmond, Hampton Court, Runnymede, and Windsor – with some wonderful historic scenery en-route to a riverside finish line.
You can walk, jog or run, as an individual or a team, and you’ll get full support and hospitality from the Ultra Challenge team along the way!
How do I sign up?
To sign up for the Thames Path Challenge, visit the Ultra Challenge website.
You can either choose charity sponsorship, where you pay a small registration fee and fundraise for Launchpad (select us from the drop down menu in the registration options) or choose mixed funding for charity where you pay half of your registration fee, and fundraise a smaller target for Launchpad.
You will be required to have raised 50% of your fundraising target eight weeks before the event, as this covers the cost of your participation in the challenge.
How do we support members of Team Launchpad?
We will be in touch with you after you have registered on the Ultra Challenge website, and will support you every step of the way! We offer tips on training and lots of fundraising materials, and you’ll get a Launchpad t-shirt and goodies for taking part.
How will your fundraising help Launchpad?
At Launchpad, we have had to cancel or postpone almost all of our events over the last year and 2021 continues to be uncertain – and our fundraising has inevitably suffered.
The pandemic is continuing to leave homeless people extremely vulnerable and we are expecting to see many more in housing crisis, with increased job loss and evictions on the horizon as we come out of lockdown.
By taking on the Thames Path Challenge for Launchpad, you will be making all the difference to people who are homeless or at risk of losing their home in Reading – and at a time when our support is a lifeline to people in need.
Is the event COVID-safe?
By signing up to an Ultra Challenge, you can be confident that the series of events will be as low risk as possible, as has been proven with the Ultra Challenge’s model having operated the Chiltern 50 Challenge in September 2020.
Launchpad is closely monitoring the situation regarding COVID-19 in the UK. As things stand, this event will be going ahead because it’s booked for later in the year – when it is expected we can venture further than our hometown!
If your event is cancelled or postponed after sign up, you’ll be offered a transfer onto a new date or a full refund on your registration fee.
