Meet Nav - Jobs at Launchpad - Staff and volunteers
Nav's passion is HR, but in her spare time you will find her writing blogs and making fun TikTok videos.

When did you join Launchpad?

I joined the launchpad team of staff and volunteers in February 2023 on a temporary contract. Within three weeks I was offered the position to become a permanent member of the HR team and since then it has been amazing. I didn’t think when I joined on my first day that I would get the opportunity to become a permanent member of the team. I am so glad that I was given the chance.

What attracted you to the job?

I love HR and have such a passion for it. The opportunity to work here just fell into my lap and I couldn’t pass the chance to say yes. I was looking to work in a smaller organisation where I would have the chance to grow within the role and I have that here. I love being able to help and that is such a big part of HR so I just found that this role and the opportunities that came with it would be so great for me. This job is perfect for me as it allows me to balance my home and work life so well.

What is your career background?

I first started out working as a social media lead as I wanted to get into journalism as I had just finished my degree in it. However, that didn’t pan out and I started to do some temporary work which led me to work at a private hospital in the HR department as an Admin. During my time there all the team left, and I was the only HR person that the hospital had at the time. So, it was hectic, but enjoyable as I got so much exposure to HR and learnt so much.

I stayed there for a few years until I got married and then I went travelling to Australia. Once I was back, I got job as an HR Operations Advisor for an IT company and it was great to have the chance to see what it is like to work in the corporate world as it was so different from working at the hospital.

Covid hit and I then had a career break and it was nice to have some down time. However, I felt like I was ready to come back to the workplace and then joined Launchpad.

Tell us about your role here?

I work in the HR department as the HR Officer. I work closely with the HR Manager and Head of HR in our team. I look after the recruitment, the employment and onboarding process. No day is the same and it’s such an exciting role as you never know what you could be walking in to. I talk to all the staff to see how their day is going. Wellbeing is such an important part of the role, and it is really important that from onboarding, to joining and then working here that all staff have a great and friendly experience from HR.

What do you like about your job and are there any challenges?

I love everything about my job as no two days are the same. It is fun to come to see what the day ahead will hold. It is fun to work in the charity sector as I have never worked in this industry before so to be able to help people in any way possible is rewarding. Some days can be challenging but Launchpad has such a great support system that everyone here just helps you work through the problem. I love how friendly everyone is and Launchpad is just such a fun place to work that it makes my job that much easier to do.

What do you like to do in your spare time?

I spend a lot of time with my family as we are really close and I like that we always end up doing something spontaneous on the weekends. I spend a lot of time with my nephew which involves taking him to his football training and matches, which is always fun! I also am an avid social media user so in my spare time I try to make my TikTok’s, videos for my YouTube channel and love to write my blogs. I find writing my blogs and settling with a good book to read really relaxing.
